Ai discography

The discography of Japanese contemporary R&B singer and rapper Ai consists of ten studio albums, four compilation albums, one live album, one mix tape, ten video albums and numerous solo and collaboration singles.
Ai debuted as a musician through BMG Japan in 2000, though which she released a single album, ''My Name Is Ai''. In 2002, Ai switched labels to DefJam Japan, a subsidiary of Universal Music Japan, and released her second studio album in 2003, ''Original Ai''. In 2005, Ai released the ballad "Story", which became one of the most digitally successful songs of all time in Japan, becoming 3× Million certified for ringtones and Million for downloads to cellphones.
Ai remained with Universal until 2010, releasing seven studio albums with the label. Ai signed to EMI Music Japan in June 2011, and released the album ''Independent'' (2012), led by the single "Happiness". In September 2012, Universal Music Group purchased EMI Music, leading Ai to return to Universal as an artist under the newly created EMI Records Japan sub-label.
